The PT Assistant is a key associate at Hope Network whose primary responsibilities include: Responsible for providing designated Physical Therapy services to assigned individuals at Hope Network Neuro Rehabilitation. Services may include: preliminary screening of individual needs for PT intervention, direct treatment/supervision to patients receiving physical therapy in the areas of functional mobility, joint range of motion, positioning needs in wheelchair, patient/staff/family education, and report difficulties of patients in response to environmental needs and safety. Model appropriate behavior and teaches life skills to patients. Specific physical therapy programs will be set up and supervised by a licensed Physical Therapist and carried out by the Physical Therapist Assistant. Work with supervision according to Section 333.16109 of the Michigan Public Health Code, APTA, and hold valid Michigan licensure.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Regular and predictable attendance is an essential requirement of this position.
  2. Services provided will include generating appropriate treatment techniques and programs including but not limited to: accessibility, assistive equipment and training, LE orthotic devices, functional mobility training, joint range of motion, wheelchair positioning, and pt./caregiver education, consistent with the evaluation as determined by the supervising physical therapist.
  3. Assist patient and Physical Therapist in management of treatment goals for assigned patients through review of individual records, observation, participation in treatment, and interview of family/caregivers.
  4. With Physical Therapist, develop and implement group and individual treatment techniques to improve individual functioning in accordance with established treatment goals. Define and apply strategies of task analysis, compensation, environmental modifications, and work simplification in a variety of settings with individuals.
  5. Completes timely documentation of daily treatment notes.
  6. Serves as a member of an interdisciplinary team for assigned individuals. Participates in coordination of services, discharge planning, and family education as needed
  7. Develop and maintain effective interpersonal relationships with all individuals.
  8. Attends and verbally presents at team meetings, staff meetings, and in-services as assigned.
  9. Supervise, train, and evaluate PTA student fieldworks, Level I or Level II, after 1 year of employment
  10. Ability to work flexible hours based on program needs
  11. Other duties as assigned.

Educational / Talent Requirements:

  1. Graduate of an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program
  2. Full licensure by examination to practice as a Physical Therapy Assistant in the state of Michigan and/or limited PTA license holder
  3. Valid NPI number
  4. Ability to acquire CEU’s and track documentation in order to support certification and licensure requirements
  5. Valid driver’s license and driving record acceptable according to HNRS policy
  6. Ability to articulate and support the mission of HNNR to various audiences

Work Experience Requirements:

  1. Two years’ work experience with Adult Neurologically Disabled/TBI population, preferred.
  2. Work experience in use of EMR for documentation.
