Job Family Description
Project management personnel plan, monitor and manage internal projects from initiation through completion. Program management personnel manage programs responsible for the execution of multiple projects or sub-projects. They secure required resources and use formal processes and tools to manage resources, budgets, risks, and changes. They manage projects to ensure on-time completion according to specifications and within budgeted costs.
Discipline Description
Construction Survey and Layout personnel perform field surveying and layout in support of field construction installation activities. They operate a variety of survey equipment and instruments in the performance of the physical layout of work to include horizontal and vertical control. They prepare and/or provide data for the preparation of construction survey deliverables including drawings, sketches, field notes, coordinate listing, CAD files, etc. Surveyors use surveying practices and methods to perform land surveying, construction layout, precision tolerance work, and related instrument calibration. They perform field walk downs with design engineering, field engineering, craftsmen, and operations personnel to understand job scopes and needs. They conduct drawing research and reviews, use applicable mathematics to perform layout activities, and perform as-builts of completed construction installation activities.
Some Typical Duties & Responsibilities Include:
Responsibilities of a Survey/Layout Rodman include various types of land surveying and construction layout to support Savannah River Nuclear Solutions customers while adhering to the SRNS core values of safety, integrity, teamwork and customer satisfaction.
* Utilizing survey equipment to provide support for various types of construction projects.
* Operating survey total stations to stakeout coordinates to provide layout for future construction projects and repairs.
* Utilize total stations to as-built new construction, including structures and utilities.
* Laying out utilities and interferences for excavations.
* Utilize GPS instruments for topographical surveys for future projects.
* Operating Ground Penetrating Radar to locate unidentified interferences.
* Utilize MicroStation CAD software to generate designs and drawings to depict survey information.
* Plotting survey points taken in the field for as-builts to maintain updated site maps.
* Create excavation survey field maps to layout interferences near excavation projects.
* Generate sketches to relay information such as coordinates and elevations.
* Participating in training courses and attending safety meetings in order contribute to a safe work environment.
Required Qualifications
* Associate's degree in relevant field plus completion of applicable certification or on-the-job training, OR High school diploma plus completion of applicable certification or on-the-job training plus at least one year of experience (YOE) in an applicable role
* Equivalencies to experience and education requirements will be considered

Security Clearance Information
SRNS is required by DOE to conduct a pre-employment drug & alcohol test and background review that includes checks of personal references, credit, criminal records, and employment history, and education verifications. Positions with SRNS may require applicants to obtain and maintain a DOE L or Q-level security clearance, which requires U.S. citizenship.
