Job Summary
The Lead Registered Respiratory Therapist reports to the Respiratory Manager/Director and the Respiratory Clinical Coordinator. The Lead Respiratory Therapist functions as a working shift resource, providing direct oversight,assistance, support, and problem resolution to Respiratory Staff during assigned shift in all aspects of respiratory care.
Responsibilities And Scope
- Administers respiratory patient care under the direction of a provider.
- Practice,maintain, and deliver high clinical standards in the assessment, administration, education, and observation of respiratory therapy as ordered by the provider.
- Provides direct oversite,assistance, support, and problem resolution to the respiratory Staff during their assigned shift.
- Responsible for resolving call-offs during shift and takesappropriate actionsto ensure adequate staffing for the following shift.
- Provides coverage inabsenceof department leadership.
- Assistsin current and continuing education for new employee orientation.
- Actsan advisor to the manager during performance management counseling.
- Ensures the prompt recording and documentation of safety events and near misses.Followsup on safety reports.
- Assistsin developing andmaintainingquality standards for the department.
- Completes individual tasks delegated by the Respiratory Manager/Director.
Qualifications
Required
- Active Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) status as administered by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC).
- Current North Carolina Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) license.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.
Preferred
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification.
