Health Psychologist
SBH Health System is seeking a Health Psychologist to join our Psychiatry Consultation-Liaison (C-L) team. The psychologist will provide comprehensive mental health assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and crisis intervention services for adult and child patients requiring psychiatric evaluation and support during hospitalization. Key Responsibilities: Conduct psychological assessments, diagnostic evaluations, and crisis interventions for hospitalized patients. Provide treatment and assessment on the Medical Psychiatric Unit (MPU), which serves patients with both acute psychiatric and medical needs. Collaborate with the C-L team and serve as a liaison for transfers to inpatient psychiatry units and referrals from outside hospitals. Supervise psychology externs, including oversight of psychological testing and clinical work. Deliver lectures and seminars on psychotherapy and related topics to medical students, psychiatry residents, and psychology externs. Provide staff debriefings following critical incidents across the hospital. Facilitate psychoeducational or therapeutic groups for patients with chronic or high-risk medical conditions. Participate in departmental committees and other initiatives as assigned by the Chair of Psychiatry. Qualifications: Ph.D. or Psy.D. in Clinical, Counseling, or Health Psychology. New York State Psychology License. Experience in inpatient psychiatric care required. Prior experience working with a Consultation-Liaison team strongly preferred.
