We were founded in 2016 by Aryé Elfenbein, a cardiologist and molecular biologist, and Justin Kolbeck, a former US diplomat who served in Pakistan and Afghanistan, in an effort to solve one of the world’s biggest problems: how to feed a growing population without stripping the earth of its natural resources and biodiversity.
What you will own at Wildtype
- This role is responsible for building the top of Wildtype’s commercial funnel by identifying potential customers, initiating conversations, and scheduling meetings
- Research and identify prospective customers and partners using your deep understanding of our technology
- Deliver a consistent weekly flow of qualified leads and high potential prospects
- Support preparation for industry events, conferences, and trade shows
- The position reports to the CEO and will collaborate closely to refine messaging and outreach strategies

What you bring to Wildtype
- 1–3 years experience in sales development, business development, or outbound prospecting
- A hunger to win as we tackle the market for biotech-enabled, sustainable products
- Track record of overcoming rejection, identifying and connecting with relevant decision-makers, and of measured persistence required to break into new markets
- Exceptional written communication skills, especially for email and social media outreach
- Highly organized and adept with CRM tools. Able to manage a large number of prospects and conversations.
Impact plan
- Within 1 month you will understand Wildtype’s technology, value proposition, and customer segments. You will begin building prospect lists and executing outbound outreach campaigns.
- Within 3 months you will have established a steady cadence of outbound prospecting and will be consistently generating qualified meetings. You will have refined messaging and targeting strategies based on response rates.
- Within 6 months you will be responsible for a well-maintained pipeline of qualified leads across key global markets. Your outreach will be generating regular meetings and your work will have led to several closed deals.
- Within 12 months you’ll be the central point for our sales efforts across the company. You will be comfortable participating in close meetings and representing Wildtype at trade shows, in-person samples, and other sales meetings. Your sales track record will make for an easy promotion to account executive.
On-target earnings for this position is $100,000 - $145,000 per year, plus stock options and benefits.
Location: San Francisco - onsite, with some hybrid flexibility
