Job Title: Active Duty Navy Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) - Commissioned Officer


Position Overview: The Navy is seeking highly motivated and qualified individuals to serve as Active Duty Medical Laboratory Scientists (MLS). As a commissioned officer in Navy Medicine, you will play a critical role in delivering world-class healthcare to Sailors, Marines, and their families. You will apply advanced clinical laboratory skills in high-operational tempo environments, both ashore and at sea, supporting military readiness and global medical operations.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform complex testing in hematology, chemistry, microbiology, blood banking, immunology, and molecular diagnostics across Navy medical treatment facilities, hospitals, clinics, and deployed platforms.
  • Ensure accuracy, precision, and timely reporting of laboratory results to guide patient diagnosis and treatment decisions.
  • Maintain laboratory QC, compliance with CAP, CLIA, and DoD standards.
  • Provide technical supervision and training to junior staff.
  • Support humanitarian missions, disaster response, and expeditionary medicine in austere environments.


Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree (or higher) in Medical Laboratory Science, Clinical Laboratory Science, or a related field from a NAACLS-accredited program.
  • Current certification as a Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) through ASCP (or equivalent).
  • U.S. citizen, age 21-41 (waivers possible), physically qualified for commissioning.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance.
  • Strong leadership potential and excellent communication skills
