LHH is assisting an AmLaw law firm in Dallas find an Appellate Specialist for their firm.
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary range: $110,000 - $130,000, dependent on experience.
- Full benefits package, including healthcare, retirement, paid time off, parental leave, life insurance, FSA options, and discretionary performance bonuses.
Position Scope & Expectations
- This role will manage the full appellate process from beginning to end.
- Supports the Appellate & Constitutional Law practice group.
- Works closely with litigation paralegals and attorneys on heavy commercial litigation matters.
- Must be comfortable handling work related to commercial litigation, oil & gas disputes, and corporate appellate matters.
- Some flexibility is required if appellate court appearances or related proceedings arise.
Experience & Background Requirements
- Strong background in state, federal, and appellate procedures.
- Significant experience with Texas Supreme Court and Texas appellate courts is highly preferred.
- AM LAW firm experience is strongly preferred and considered a major differentiator.
- Expected to work autonomously on appellate filings, research, cite checking, and coordination with court personnel.
- Experience interacting with high-stakes litigation matters and complex filings.
Technical & Skill Requirements
- Expert knowledge of:
- Appellate rules and filing requirements
- Bluebook standards and citation checking
- Electronic filing systems (U.S. Supreme Court, federal appellate courts, Texas appellate courts)
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat, iManage.
- Experience with LexisNexis, Westlaw, PACER, and CM/ECF.
Collaboration & Workstyle Expectations
- Will collaborate daily with litigation paralegals and appellate attorneys.
- Must be detail-oriented, organized, and able to manage multiple concurrent deadlines.
- Team-oriented but capable of independent work across multiple offices.
Billing & Workload Requirements
- Annual billable requirement: 1,650 hours
- Occasional overtime and weekend work may be required based on filing deadlines.
