Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Transportation Manager to oversee the efficient routing of our inbound and outbound deliveries. While working closely with the Outbound Transportation Manager, the ideal candidate will ensure smooth operations and timely deliveries so that product arrives at our warehouse on time and is delivered to our customers on the requested days. Our outbound drivers are mainly employed by a dedicated carrier. CISCO does not directly employ its own drivers.
Responsibilities
- Communicate with buyers and trucking companies regarding inbound loads
- Meet with trucking companies to ensure we are using the best carriers for our needs
- Interview new drivers hired by our dedicated carrier
- Monitor and analyze expenses of the transportation department
- Analyze driver ELD and logs/trip records
- Input freight information on vendors' websites and into ERP system
- Monitor trailer condition and coordinate trailer repairs
- Manage driver paperwork daily
- Review and approve freight bills
- Tender all inbound loads
- Assist with LTL's for outbound loads
- Work with the outbound transportation manager on backhauls
- Answer vendor and customer calls
- Work closely with the Warehouse Manager to identify areas of improvement
- Keep excel spreadsheets up to date (inbound, driver work schedules, etc.)
- Perform quotes throughout the year to ensure best possible rates
- Stay up to date with DOT and HAZMAT regulations
- Provide support to outbound transportation manager
Requirements
- Experience in booking and moving freight with brokers, asset-based carriers, and LTL carriers
- Experience with warehousing/distribution operations
- Proficient in Microsoft products (word, excel, outlook)
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Experience working in an ERP system
- Strong analytical skills and creativity
- Detail-oriented
- Self-motivated with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively
