Accounting Clerk

Clayton Services is searching for an Accounting Clerk to join a thriving company in North Houston. The Accounting Clerk will be responsible for supporting accounts payable and accounts receivable operations by performing a variety of accounting, clerical, and administrative tasks to ensure accurate and efficient financial processing.
Job Type: Temp-to-Hire
Pay Rate: $23.00-$25.00/hour

Accounting Clerk Responsibilities:

• Enter all incoming vendor bills accurately and promptly into QuickBooks.
• Follow internal approval workflows and monetary limit guidelines for invoice routing.
• Prepare, print, and mail checks as required.
• Monitor and process recurring payments to ensure timely disbursement.
• Retrieve, review, and reconcile monthly vendor statements.
• Communicate with vendors regarding invoices, payments, discrepancies, and account questions.
• Research and resolve billing issues in a timely and professional manner.
• Assist Accounts Receivable with collections, payment follow-up, and related administrative tasks.
• Support invoicing functions, including scanning, emailing, and organizing documentation.
• Provide general administrative support such as answering phones, filing, scanning, and document management.
• Other duties as assigned.

Accounting Clerk Skills and Abilities:

• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Excellent customer service and interpersonal abilities.
• High attention to detail with strong organizational skills.
• Analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Outlook, etc.).
• Experience with QuickBooks preferred.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.

Accounting Clerk Education and Experience:

• Associate degree required; Bachelor's degree preferred.
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Previous accounting or industry-related experience is highly preferred.
• Experience with AP/AR processes and accounting software is a plus.
