Job Title: Occupational Therapist (OT) - Acute Care

Location: Hattiesburg, Mississippi

Pay Rate: $2,470/week

Contract Length: 13 Weeks

Shift: Day Shift - 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM (1 weekend/month)

Guaranteed Hours: 40 hours/week

Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Occupational Therapist (OT) for an acute care setting in Hattiesburg, MS. This role involves delivering patient-centered therapy services to help individuals regain independence and improve functional outcomes across pediatric, adolescent, and geriatric populations.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive patient evaluations using functional tests and clinical assessments
• Develop and implement individualized treatment plans and goals
• Provide therapy interventions to improve mobility, strength, and daily functioning
• Educate patients and families on treatment plans, safety, and adaptive techniques
• Accurately document patient progress in Electronic Medical Records (EMR)
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams for optimal patient care
• Manage an average of 7 patient sessions per day

Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited Occupational Therapy program
• Active OT license
• Minimum experience:
• 1 year acute care experience, OR
• 2 years SNF/Inpatient Rehab, OR
• Equivalent part-time acute care experience
• 2 hours of CVA-specific continuing education (within last 4 months)
• Strong knowledge of:
• Musculoskeletal, neurological, cardiopulmonary, and integumentary systems

• Patient & family education
• Operation of assistive devices (wheelchairs, walkers, etc.)
• Use of modalities (moist heat, paraffin, etc.)

Work Environment

• Acute care hospital setting
• Team includes 3 OTs and 1 COTA
• No floating required
• Moderate to high physical activity (lifting up to 50 lbs)

Additional Details

• Weekend rotation: 1 weekend/month
• Focus on restoring independence and improving patient outcomes
• Exposure to diverse patient populations and conditions
