Job Title: Medical Laboratory Scientist
Location: Arlington, TX 76011
Duration: 03 Month Contract (Possibility of extension or conversion)
Shift: Mon-Thurs: 1:00 pm to 9:00 pm and Friday: 2:00 pm to 12:30 am
Pay Rate: $35 - $40/hour (W2) (Based on experience and education)
Job Summary:
The Laboratory Technologist is responsible for performing laboratory testing, ensuring accurate and timely results, and maintaining compliance with quality and regulatory standards. This role supports overall laboratory operations and ensures proper specimen handling, analysis, and reporting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Follow laboratory procedures for specimen handling, processing, testing, and result reporting
- Perform specimen analysis using approved methods and department SOPs
- Review and release test results accurately and promptly
- Maintain accurate and complete records of all patient testing and laboratory activities
- Ensure proficiency testing is conducted in the same manner as patient specimens
- Adhere to quality control (QC) policies and document QC activities, calibrations, and maintenance
- Identify and troubleshoot issues affecting test performance; escalate concerns when necessary
- Document corrective actions for any deviations in test performance
- Report STAT and critical results according to department procedures
- Ensure proper labeling, storage, and tracking of reagents and test kits (including expiration dates)
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the laboratory and work areas
- Follow all regulatory and safety guidelines including CLIA, HIPAA, and OSHA
- Participate in training sessions, departmental meetings, and continuing education
- Assist during inspections by regulatory or government agencies
- Communicate effectively with team members, clients, and other departments
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the supervisor
Required Knowledge & Skills:
- Strong understanding of laboratory testing procedures and workflows
- Knowledge of Quality Assurance (QA) and Quality Control (QC)
- Proficiency in computer systems and laboratory information systems
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to multitask and manage priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Good communication and customer service skills
- Ability to maintain strict patient confidentiality
Education Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in medical technology, Biology, Chemistry, or related field preferred
- OR
- Associate degree in Laboratory Science / Medical Technology
- Certification as MT/MLT (ASCP or AMT) preferred or eligible
- IERF must evaluate foreign education; U.S. candidates must provide official transcripts
Work Experience:
- Minimum 1 year of clinical laboratory experience (high complexity testing preferred)
