Overview


A company seeking a detail-oriented individual to support hospital intake operations. This role focuses on gathering and verifying patient and insurance information to ensure accurate records for both clinical care and billing purposes. The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering a smooth and professional registration experience for patients.


This is a full-time position with rotating shifts, including weekends and holidays, based on operational needs.


Working Hours

A variety of shifts are available across day, evening, and overnight schedules. Flexibility is required, as working hours may change depending on patient volumes.



Key Responsibilities

  • Collect and confirm patient demographic and financial information through interviews and coordination with internal and external sources;
  • Secure required documentation, including consent forms and insurance paperwork;
  • Handle pre-authorisation processes, referrals, and payment-related activities such as co-pays or deposits;
  • Enter and maintain accurate data within hospital systems, ensuring all records are complete and up to date;
  • Communicate with patients, families, and healthcare providers regarding coverage details or financial responsibilities;
  • Review medical orders to ensure all necessary information is properly documented;
  • Ensure compliance with applicable healthcare regulations and insurance requirements;
  • Manage multiple systems and databases efficiently;
  • Provide a high standard of customer service, escalating issues when needed;
  • Respond to incoming calls and assist callers using established guidelines;
  • Complete assigned tasks promptly and accurately during each shift;
  • Follow all organisational safety procedures and policies.


Required Qualifications

  • Secondary education or equivalent;
  • Up to one year of experience in healthcare administration, customer service, or a similar environment involving data entry and system use (including internships or volunteer work);
  • Ability to obtain Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 90 days of hire;
  • Willingness to complete required workplace safety training shortly after joining.

Preferred Skills & Experience

  • Previous experience in hospital admissions or emergency department registration;
  • Typing speed of at least 35 words per minute;
  • Familiarity with standard office software and computer systems;
  • Understanding of medical terminology;
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills;
  • Excellent organisational abilities and time management;
  • Capacity to remain calm and professional in fast-paced or high-pressure situations;
  • Customer-focused mindset with problem-solving capabilities.



Compensation

The salary for this role typically falls within the range of $38,000 to $63,000 per year. Final compensation will depend on experience, skills, and other relevant factors.
