THE POSITION Are you ready to take the driver's seat in Commonwealth infrastructure management? The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) is excited to welcome a Senior Civil Engineer Supervisor (Transportation) to direct the inspection of materials and workmanship on construction improvement projects within Engineering District 12. DESCRIPTION OF WORK As a Senior Civil Engineer Supervisor, you will serve as the Inspector-In-Charge, utilizing sound engineering practices and principles to manage complex highway construction projects from assignment to completion in a professional, timely, cost effective, and safe manner. You will be responsible for ensuring that all work is completed in accordance with approved construction plans, standards, specifications, and contract documents. Your proficiency in the field will be vital in analyzing project information to resolve or provide engineering support for issues requiring coordination with municipalities, private property and/or businesses, emergency services, railroads, authorities, utilities, and other construction projects.
Specific duties will entail compiling documentation, work order justifications, technical reports, and correspondence for construction related issues; preparing and submitting work orders and construction estimates; and tracking all material certifications to ensure materials incorporated into the work is certified and within specification. You will oversee p roject documentation, material control and acceptance, contractor and consultant payments, project closeout procedures, semi-final inspections, and project acceptance. Resolving contractor disputes and participating in claim and pre-claim meetings if disputes cannot be amicably resolved is another primary focus of this position.

Work Schedule and Additional InformationFull-time employment Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch. You will work closely with vendors and work hours may change based on vendor availability.
Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, ad-hoc. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Uniontown. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time. REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training RequirementsSix years of civil engineering experience in the appropriate specialty; and an Engineer-in-Training certificate issued by or acceptable to the Pennsylvania State Registration Board for Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors and Geologists; or Five years of civil engineering experience in the appropriate specialty; and an Engineer-in-Training certificate issued by or acceptable to the Pennsylvania State Registration Board for Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors and Geologists; and an associate's degree in civil engineering technology or a closely related engineering discipline; or Two years of professional civil engineering experience in the appropriate specialty, and a bachelor's degree in civil engineering or a closely related engineering discipline.
Special RequirementThis position requires possession of a valid driver's license.
