About the Role:
As a Mechanical Engineer III in our Owings Mills office, you will serve as a technical lead and project driver, translating complex client needs into high-performance mechanical, HVAC, and fire protection solutions. This role offers the autonomy to manage small-to-midsize projects from initial scope to construction administration, while also providing the opportunity to mentor junior designers and collaborate across multidisciplinary teams. You won't just be performing calculations; you will be an essential strategist, ensuring operational excellence across diverse sectors including life sciences, mission-critical facilities, and industrial manufacturing.

Here’s a glimpse into your day to day:
- Supporting multiple projects.
- Leading small and mid-size design projects with support from Sr. and Chief Engineers.
- Directing other engineers and designers for preparation of drawings and engineering calculations.
- Collaborating and coordinating with other engineering disciplines and stakeholders.
- Researching applicable codes and industry standards.
- Interpreting codes and collaborating with other design professionals as needed.
- Preparing engineering analysis and reports, including conditions assessment.
- Preparing engineering calculations and reviewing calculations prepared by others.
- Developing preliminary and detailed engineering designs.
- Creating engineering specifications and controls sequences with support from Sr. and Chief Engineers.
- Preparing COMcheck calculations.
- Performing design quality control, monitoring progress, and notifying managers of scope changes.
You’ll be a perfect fit if you have:
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university in Mechanical Engineering.
- Professional Engineering Licensure or the ability to obtain a PE.
- LEED accreditation is preferred.
- Minimum 5 years of mechanical engineering design experience on relevant projects. Applicable design experience includes creating construction documents for HVAC air side, HVAC water side, plumbing, and fire protection systems, with significant expertise in at least one of these areas.
- Minimum 5 years of experience preparing heating and cooling load calculations and performing ventilation rate procedure (VRP).
- Minimum 5 years of experience performing ductwork and/or piping pressure drop calculations.
- Minimum 5 years of experience preparing equipment selections for HVAC and/or plumbing equipment.
- Minimum 3 years of experience collaborating with vendors for equipment selections.
- Ability to direct engineers and/or designers for creation of drawings in Revit and CAD.
- Ability to perform field work that will include walking, kneeling, sitting, standing, climbing stairs and/or ladders.
- Willingness to travel to client sites.
- Willingness to work in the office at least two days per week.
- Willingness to work in a team environment.
- Ability to gather and organize information and documentation.
- Ability to multitask.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, a positive work attitude, and willingness to learn new skills.
Compensation and Benefits:
- Pay: $90,000-130,000 annually (depending on experience)
- Annual Profit Sharing Bonus (variable)
