Role Description

The Accounting Manager supports day-to-day financial operations and works closely with internal staff, external accounting partners, and volunteer leaders. This role focuses on reconciliations, reporting, compliance, and maintaining strong internal controls in a hybrid work environment.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Overseeing accounts payable and accounts receivable processes
  • Coordinating monthly close activities and reconciliations with the CPA firm
  • Assisting with journal entries and financial reporting in QuickBooks
  • Supporting audit preparation and compliance, including 1099 and Form 990 data
  • Maintaining financial data in iMIS related to dues invoicing and member records
  • Assisting with HR-related processes such as benefits coordination, onboarding/offboarding, and 401(k) reporting
  • Supporting committee financial reporting and internal collaboration across teams
  • Participating in cross-training to ensure operational continuity

Qualifications

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong skills in Financial Statements preparation, ensuring accuracy and compliance with regulations
  • Proficiency in Journal Entries (Accounting) and Fixed Asset management
  • Solid Analytical Skills and a strong aptitude for problem-solving and financial planning
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Finance, including budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational and time-management abilities
  • Experience in nonprofit accounting or familiarity with nonprofit financial management is a plus
  • Advanced proficiency in accounting software and tools. Knowledge of Bill.com and QuickBooks preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required; CPA certification is a plus
