Summary
The Staff Accountant will support the day-to-day accounting operations of the organization, with a primary focus on general ledger activity, journal entries, and account reconciliations. This role is ideal for an accounting professional seeking a hands-on position in a collaborative accounting environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with maintaining the general ledger, including accurate posting of journal entries
- Support month-end and year-end close processes under supervision
- Prepare and assist with balance sheet and bank reconciliations
- Reconcile assigned general ledger accounts and research variances
- Assist in preparing financial reports and schedules
- Support audits by gathering documentation and preparing schedules
- Assist with accounts payable and accounts receivable activities as needed
- Maintain organized accounting records and supporting documentation
- Ensure compliance with GAAP and internal accounting policies
- Perform other accounting duties and projects as assigned
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (or in progress)
- 1+ years of accounting experience (internships or relevant coursework accepted)
- Foundational understanding of general ledger accounting and basic accounting principles
- Familiarity with journal entries, reconciliations, and financial statements
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel; experience with accounting or ERP systems a plus
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
