About the Role
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Load Planner to support daily transportation operations. In this role, you will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and optimizing inbound and outbound shipments to ensure cost efficiency, on-time delivery, and compliance with customer requirements.

Key Responsibilities
Load Planning & Execution
- Plan, build, and assign daily inbound and outbound shipments using TMS
- Optimize routing, carrier selection, and equipment utilization
- Review and consolidate orders to determine the most efficient shipping methods
- Ensure alignment with Required Delivery Dates (RDD/MABD) and customer guidelines
Coordination & Communication
- Collaborate with carriers, warehouse operations, and customer service teams
- Monitor shipments in transit and proactively resolve delays or issues
- Serve as the primary point of contact for load planning and scheduling inquiries
Systems & Documentation
- Maintain accurate shipment data in TMS and related systems (e.g., SAP, visibility tools)
- Validate BOLs, appointment confirmations, and Proof of Delivery (POD)
- Ensure compliance with SOPs, routing guides, and carrier agreements
Performance & Continuous Improvement
- Track KPIs such as on-time delivery, cost per load, and carrier performance
- Identify process improvements and operational efficiencies
- Support carrier reviews and logistics optimization initiatives
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business Administration, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- 2+ years of experience in load planning, dispatching, or transportation coordination
- Strong knowledge of freight operations, routing, and carrier scheduling
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and TMS platforms
- Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
Preferred
- Experience with SAP or similar enterprise logistics systems
- Familiarity with EDI, carrier portals, and tracking/visibility tools (e.g., FourKites, Project44)
- Understanding of regional carrier networks and warehouse operations
