Litigation Associate

A nationally recognized defense law firm is seeking a litigation associate to join its growing trial-focused practice. The role offers hands-on responsibility, meaningful courtroom exposure, and the opportunity to work closely with experienced trial lawyers on sophisticated matters for national and international clients.

The Practice

The litigation group handles complex, high-stakes defense matters, including general liability, product liability, transportation, premises liability, catastrophic injury, and other commercial and tort-based disputes. Attorneys in the group are actively involved in all phases of litigation, from case strategy through trial and resolution.

Responsibilities

• Manage a broad range of litigation matters from inception through resolution
• Draft and argue dispositive and non-dispositive motions
• Take and defend depositions of fact and expert witnesses
• Conduct written discovery and manage document review and production
• Prepare witnesses and develop case strategy in collaboration with partners
• Participate in mediations, arbitrations, and trials
• Maintain direct client and insurer communication
• Work closely with a collaborative team of attorneys, paralegals, and support staff

Qualifications

• 2+ years of litigation experience in a law firm, government, or comparable litigation setting
• Strong experience with motion practice, discovery, and case management
• Prior courtroom, hearing, or trial experience strongly preferred
• Excellent legal research, writing, and oral advocacy skills
• Ability to manage multiple matters independently while working effectively in a team environment
• Admission to the bar in the jurisdiction of the office (or ability to obtain admission promptly)
