IP Litigation Associate - Midsized Firm w/ Top Client Roster

Our client, a New York based law firm with a trademark litigation practice on the rise, is seeking a Trademark Litigation Associate with two to six years of demonstrated experience in trademark litigation to join its expanding Intellectual Property group. This is an opportunity to work directly with the sought after Chair of the IP group focused on trademark litigations, in a role designed for an associate ready to take on more meaningful responsibility and step out of a siloed environment.

You will be actively involved in strategy, client interaction, and the progression of matters across trademark, trade dress, and unfair competition disputes, including infringement actions and brand enforcement. This is not a layered team structure, as you will work closely with decision-makers, gain exposure to how matters are built and run, and develop the judgment and instincts that are often delayed in larger or more segmented practices.

Key Responsibilities & Experience:

Working directly with partners and clients on active matters

Handling trademark, trade dress, copyright, and unfair competition matters

Supporting brand enforcement strategies and IP dispute resolution

Participating in depositions, court appearances, and case development

Managing discovery, including document review and production

Drafting pleadings, motions, and other substantive litigation documents

The ideal candidate will have excellent writing skills, strong analytical ability, and sound judgment, along with a demonstrated awareness of and interest in building a trademark litigation practice. Admission to practice law in New York is required. Although it is not required, exposure to patent litigations will be considered a plus. USPTO admission is preferred. Compensation includes a base salary ($200K–$245K) plus a navigable hours based bonus structure and comprehensive employee benefits.
