We’re hiring for a Quality Mechanical InspectorLevel 2 position in Long Beach, CA. This is an opportunity in which you will be supporting the first or second shift. This is a Full-time position. This is a 6 month contract opportunity, working Monday through Friday on the 1st shift. Key Responsibilities:
- Support Receiving Department by performing inspections of machined rocket parts and associated documentation to reduce backlog of parts and paperwork.
- Perform detailed inspections—visual, dimensional, and physical—on components, assemblies, and raw materials throughout various production phases (including in-process, final, and first article) to verify compliance with engineering drawings and specifications.
- Operate and utilize precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, dial indicators, gauge blocks, height gauges, and profilometers to validate part conformity.
- Conduct surface plate inspections and statistical lot sampling based on quality requirements.
- Apply sharp visual inspection skills to identify workmanship issues and product defects, including damage such as burrs, scratches, loose fasteners, dings, and inadequate edge distances.
- Identify and categorize nonconformities and confirm that corrective actions or rework have been properly executed.
- Receiving shipping documentation for accuracy, confirming part numbers, serial numbers, change notices, and destination data are correct.
- Assure appropriate packaging, preservation, and delivery handling upon receiving.
Skills and Qualifications:
- 3+ years of hands-on experience with precision mechanical parts inspection.
- Strong ability to read and interpret manufacturing drawings and industry/commodity standards.
- Proficient in GD&T and validating dimensions (tolerances ≥.005”) using hand tools (e.g., micrometers, calipers, height gauges).
- Ability to adapt to new technology and software.
- Excellent visual acuity to detect defects in complex products.
- Must be willing to undergo a background check.
- Must be ITAR compliant.
