Role Description

This is a full-time, on-site role located in Plano, TX. As a Patient Care Advocate, you will be the primary point of contact for patients, guiding them throughout their care journey. Responsibilities include managing patient communications, coordinating appointments, assisting with case management, and addressing patient concerns. You will work collaboratively with healthcare professionals to ensure a seamless patient experience while providing compassionate support and education to patients.

Position Overview

The Bariatric Surgery Patient Care Advocate plays a vital role in guiding prospective patients through the first step of their weight-loss journey. This position serves as the initial point of contact for individuals seeking bariatric surgery and requires exceptional compassion, attention to detail, and strong communication skills.

The Patient Care Advocate connects with new leads, gathers accurate patient information, answers questions about bariatric surgery, and helps individuals feel supported and confident as they explore life-changing treatment options.

Because empathy and understanding are essential, individuals who have personally undergone bariatric surgery are strongly encouraged to apply. Personal experience allows advocates to connect with patients on a deeper level and provide meaningful encouragement.

Key Responsibilities

Patient Outreach & Lead Management

  • Promptly contact new patient inquiries from phone, website, social media, and referral sources
  • Engage prospective patients in a warm, compassionate conversation about their health goals
  • Accurately collect and enter patient demographic and medical information into the electronic medical record and CRM systems
  • Schedule initial consultations and guide patients through next steps

Patient Education & Support

  • Provide basic education about bariatric surgery options, program requirements, and the patient journey
  • Answer common questions regarding insurance coverage, employer-sponsored surgery benefits, and program timelines
  • Offer reassurance and encouragement to individuals who may feel nervous or overwhelmed

Data Accuracy & Documentation

  • Maintain precise and timely documentation of all patient interactions
  • Ensure lead information is entered correctly and completely into the system
  • Track patient status and follow up appropriately

Relationship Building

  • Create a welcoming and supportive experience for prospective patients
  • Build trust with individuals considering bariatric surgery
  • Represent the mission and values of Texas Center for Bariatrics & Advanced Surgery with professionalism and empathy
Preferred Qualifications
  • Personal experience with bariatric surgery (preferred but not required)
  • Experience in healthcare, patient coordination, medical front office, or call center roles
  • Strong phone communication skills and a warm, empathetic demeanor
  • Exceptional listening skills and emotional intelligence
  • Ability to handle sensitive conversations with compassion and discretion
  • High level of organization and attention to detail
  • Candidate can't have dog allergies as we have an office dog on site.
