Vernovis is seeking an experienced Accounting Consultant with a strong background in manufacturing environments to lead an end-to-end assessment and transformation of our client's accounting function. You will partner directly with senior leadership as a strategic advisor and hands-on resource to evaluate current-state processes, identify risks and inefficiencies, and implement practical, sustainable improvements, with particular focus on cost accounting, inventory, and financial reporting. This is a high-impact consulting engagement centered on rapidly diagnosing issues, executing effective solutions, and establishing a stronger, more scalable accounting and operational framework.
What You'll Do:
- Lead a thorough diagnostic review of accounting operations, including financial reporting, reconciliations, and close activities
- Review and assess cost accounting approaches, inventory controls, and manufacturing-related financial workflows
- Identify control gaps, inefficiencies, and areas of financial or operational risk
- Develop, communicate, and present clear findings, recommendations, and prioritized action plans to leadership
- Partner closely with internal stakeholders to implement process improvements and strengthen internal controls
- Streamline workflows to increase accuracy, visibility, and overall operational efficiency
- Evaluate existing processes and procedures, recommending and supporting optimization initiatives
- Design and establish practical, scalable processes aligned with manufacturing best practices
- Document processes, frameworks, and controls to support long-term sustainability
- Deliver ongoing progress updates and executive-level reporting throughout the engagement
What You'll Have:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA not required)
- 5+ years of experience in accounting, auditing, or financial consulting
- Strong background in manufacturing environments, including cost accounting and inventory management
- Demonstrated success leading audits, diagnostic assessments, or process improvement initiatives
- Solid knowledge of GAAP, internal controls, and financial reporting requirements
- Experience advising senior leadership and influencing decision-making
- Hands-on experience working with ERP systems in manufacturing settings
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
- Ability to work independently and deliver results in a fast-paced, project-driven environment
Preferred Experience:
- Background in consulting, advisory, or interim or contract-based roles
- Experience with manufacturing cost structures, standard costing, and variance analysis
- Exposure to operational turnarounds, transformations, or post-acquisition integrations
- Familiarity with ERP platforms such as SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, or similar systems
