Position Summary

The Telecom Foreman is responsible for leading field crews in the installation, maintenance, and repair of telecommunications infrastructure. This role oversees daily job site operations, ensures work is completed safely and efficiently, and serves as the primary point of contact between field personnel and management.

The Telecom Foreman is expected to lead by example, maintain productivity standards, enforce safety compliance, and ensure quality workmanship across all assigned projects.


Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise and direct field crews in the installation, maintenance, and repair of telecommunications systems (fiber, coax, and related infrastructure)
  • Plan, coordinate, and execute daily work activities to meet project timelines and production goals
  • Read and interpret construction drawings, prints, and specifications
  • Ensure all work is performed in compliance with company standards, customer requirements, and applicable regulations
  • Enforce safety policies and procedures; conduct job site safety meetings and hazard assessments
  • Monitor crew productivity and provide hands-on support as needed
  • Train, mentor, and develop crew members, including new hires and less experienced technicians
  • Coordinate with Construction Managers, Project Managers, and other departments to ensure smooth project execution
  • Maintain accurate daily reports, including production, timekeeping, and material usage
  • Ensure proper use, care, and accountability of company vehicles, tools, and equipment
  • Address and resolve field issues in real-time, escalating when necessary


Qualifications

  • 3–5 years of experience in telecommunications construction (fiber, coax, or OSP preferred)
  • Prior experience in a leadership role (Lead, Foreman, or Supervisor)
  • Hands-on experience operating and working around construction equipment, including:
    • Mini excavators
    • Missiles (underground boring equipment)
    • Directional bores
    • Trenching equipment
  • Strong understanding of telecom construction methods, safety standards, and best practices
  • Ability to read and interpret prints and construction documents
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to operate company vehicles
  • Willingness to travel and work in various field conditions as required


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Strong leadership and team management skills
  • Effective communication and problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Working knowledge of safety regulations (OSHA and company policies)
  • Basic computer skills for reporting and communication (timekeeping systems, daily logs, etc.)
  • Mechanical aptitude and ability to perform hands-on field work as needed


Work Environment & Physical Requirements

  • Work is performed primarily outdoors in varying weather conditions, including extreme heat and other harsh environments
  • Ability to lift, carry, and move up to 75 lbs
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and climb for extended periods
  • May require work at heights, in confined spaces, or near active roadways
  • Travel and overnight stays may be required based on project needs


Compensation & Classification

  • Full-time, non-exempt (hourly) position
  • Eligible for overtime in accordance with applicable laws
  • Compensation based on experience and market
