Accounting Manager
Type: Contract (approximately 3 months, potential to extend or convert)
Work Arrangement: Hybrid (3 days onsite per week)
Compensation: $42–$47/hr (approximately $100K equivalent)

Position Overview
The Accounting Manager will be responsible for managing core accounting operations, ensuring accurate financial reporting, maintaining strong internal controls, and supporting month-end close and audit processes. This role works closely with leadership and program teams to ensure financial integrity and alignment with organizational goals.
The position reports to the Controller/CFO and works alongside a small finance team including a Staff Accountant and AR Specialist.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee full-cycle accounting including accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll, and expense reimbursements
- Lead month-end and year-end close processes
- Ensure accuracy of financial statements, general ledger, and reconciliations
- Maintain and improve financial close procedures and internal controls
- Support audit preparation and compliance requirements
- Collaborate with program managers on budgeting and financial reporting
- Provide financial insights to support operational and strategic decisions
- Ensure compliance with GAAP and nonprofit accounting standards
- Assist in tracking and reporting multiple revenue streams and program funding
- Identify opportunities for process improvement and efficiency
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
- CPA required
- 5+ years of accounting experience in a nonprofit environment
- Strong experience with full-cycle accounting (AR, AP, payroll, close)
- Knowledge of GAAP and nonprofit financial reporting standards
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Ideally experience within a larger nonprofit organization
Preferred Qualifications
- Sage Intacct experience is a plus
- Experience working in mission-driven or multi-program nonprofit environments
- Strong process improvement mindset
