Position: You will serve as a Systems Engineer supporting the Chief Engineer and program management on advanced missile programs. In this role, you will assist in the development and decomposition of technical requirements (along with the MBSE team), contract deliverables, interface control documents, and other key systems engineering deliverables from early concept through production. This cross-functional position combines individual contribution with team support, working closely with systems, software, electrical, mechanical, GNC, test and other engineers to ensure system capabilities are properly defined, allocated, traced, and verified while maintaining design integrity, traceability, and compliance with performance, safety, and security standards.

Location: Onsite - Fairfax or Manassas, VA

Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Chief Engineer in developing, managing, and maintaining system goals and expectations, across all phases of design, development, integration and test.
  • Support the preparation, review, and delivery of design review artifacts and other technical documentation to the customer, including, but not limited to PDR and CDR events.
  • Support technical teams with the development and maintenance of Interface Control Documents (ICDs) and similar documents across engineering teams.
  • Perform requirements analysis, trade studies, and risk assessments to support system architecture and design decisions on an as-needed basis.
  • Ensure proper flow-down of requirements to subsystems and suppliers and maintain traceability throughout the lifecycle.
  • Incorporate technical inputs and documentation from other engineering disciplines and external stakeholders into the overall systems engineering baseline.
  • Conduct requirements and design reviews to identify inconsistencies, gaps, or risks, and support implementation of corrective actions on an as-needed basis.
  • Interface directly with senior leadership, DoW stakeholders, subcontractors, and company leadership to align systems engineering efforts with program needs and milestones.

Qualifications:

  • 2–7 years of systems engineering experience in aerospace/defense.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Systems Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
  • Strong experience with requirements management, interface management, verification planning, and technical documentation (CDRLs, ICDs, etc.).
  • Broad systems engineering experience, including requirements development, system architecture/design support, CONOPS development, and verification & validation activities.
  • Proven ability to work effectively in dynamic, fast-paced, team-oriented environments and support technical leadership.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to independently execute tasks and drive progress on assigned deliverables.
  • U.S. citizenship and current Secret clearance (or ability to obtain and maintain one).
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams.

Desired Skills:

  • Master’s degree in Systems Engineering or related field.
  • Experience with commercial requirements management tools.
  • Familiarity with military specifications and/or other defense systems engineering standards.
  • Experience in missile systems, guidance/navigation, or defense/aerospace programs.
  • Prior experience supporting a Chief Engineer or technical lead on a major program.
