Summary

Hanson Bridgett is seeking a seasoned litigation paralegal to assist with case planning, development, and management; legal research; fact gathering; and analytical support. Your contribution as a proactive paralegal will help drive successful outcomes and enhance client satisfaction.

In this position, you will be responsible for retrieving valuable information, drafting and analyzing legal documents, and leveraging current technology to support complex litigation matters. You will also be expected to make meaningful, practical recommendations to attorneys.

This role offers the opportunity to work remotely on days when in-person attendance is not required, as agreed upon by the direct supervisor (and assigned attorneys, if applicable). An essential function of any remote role is availability to attend in-person meetings, professional development sessions, or come into the office for other needs, as required.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manage complex litigation matters through all phases of litigation, applying strong organizational and analytical skills
  • Manage multiple matters simultaneously while prioritizing tasks and implementing effective workflows
  • Assist with locating and contacting witnesses; arrange interviews and evaluations; draft witness declarations and pretrial statements; and assist with the preparation of witness testimony
  • Compile and organize trial notebooks, exhibits, and files; coordinate witness scheduling; assist attorneys with witness issues, exhibits, and note-taking during trials
  • Assist with court filings, including cite-checking; draft formal discovery requests and responses, including special interrogatories, requests for admissions, production demands, deposition notices, and motions to compel
  • Maintain organized case files and data, including use of eDiscovery platforms
  • Coordinate document collection, review, and production
  • Perform legal research, including statutory and case law research, and draft forms, research memoranda, proposed rules, orders, and other legal documents
  • Perform other similar or related duties consistent with the general scope, level, and responsibilities of the position

Required Qualifications and Skills

  • Minimum of five (5) years of paralegal experience, with significant litigation and trial exposure
  • Availability and willingness to travel and provide on-site trial support, including assisting attorneys in the courtroom and managing trial logistics
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university and a Paralegal Certificate from an ABA-approved paralegal program
  • Excellent organizational skills and strong attention to detail
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a positive, driven attitude
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a deadline-driven environment with attorneys, other paralegals, and staff
  • Flexibility to work overtime and travel as needed
  • Strong analytical, research, and problem-solving skills

Salary

Hanson Bridgett offers a competitive salary and benefits package. The annual salary for this California-based role is anticipated to be in the area of 95,000 - $120,000, and represents the firm's good faith and reasonable estimate of possible compensation at the time of posting. Actual compensation is negotiable and will depend upon a number of factors, including but not limited to the candidate's years of experience, qualifications, and skill set.
