NP Hospitalist Opportunity in Anamosa, IA
- 25m from Cedar Rapids - 120m from Des Moines
- Seeking a Hospitalist Nurse Practitioner to join our team in Anamosa, Iowa
- Hospitalist schedule is between 12-14 shifts per month; Hours 7AM-7PM
- Weekends and Holidays are shared amongst the Advance Practitioners
- Telehospitalist service coverage overnight
- No Call

- Aware of hospital and department compliance requirements for federally funded healthcare programs (e.g. Medicare and Medicaid) regarding fraud, waste and abuse.
- Brings any questions or concerns regarding compliance to the immediate attention of department or hospital administrative staff.
- Purposefully conducts all aspects of the job in an ethical manner in support of the hospitals commitment to ethical behavior in all areas of personal and professional activity.
- Documents findings in accurate, systematic form and maintains appropriate documentation in the medical record.
- Works in a collaborative manner with physicians, nursing, and management.
- Medical Management:
- Identifies and manages acute illness from admission through discharge with adherence to best practice guidelines. - Performs histories and physicals and creates plans of care for patients admitted to the hospitalist service. - Prescribes medications and therapies as appropriate. - Collaborates with the team of providers as needed to assure safe and effective patient care. - Actively participates in daily standup meeting with hospitalist team to ensure communication and implementation of patient care plans. - Meets with patient/family to set expectations for hospital stay. - Communicates with hospital discharge planning to ensure appropriate and safe discharge plan and disposition. - Communicates with patients PCP any pertinent information regarding the hospital stay and for continuity of care with appropriate follow-up care, including the discharge summary and progress notes. - Sees patients independently but staffs all hospitalist patients with the team hospitalist - Knows professional and medical knowledge limits and confers with team hospitalist for additional input regarding medical management and education when appropriate. - Notifies physician of need to see and evaluate patients in accordance with medical staff by laws. - Measures of clinical expertise that can serve as indicators of competent performance in this role include: - Use of advanced concepts in the application of the nursing process in the clinical setting. - Implementation and evaluation of new methods of care giving. - Partners with physicians and patient care team members to achieve progress towards outcomes. - Provision of staff direction in clinical decision making and priority setting. - Maintains current knowledge of trends and advances in nursing practice. - Provides leadership for evidence-based practice changes.
- Provides clinical care with utilization of resources based on current standards/national guidelines, utilizing decision support tools such as Interqual Criteria and/or Up To Date
- Participates in care team and client meetings to assist in evaluation and development plans for hospitalist program
- Serves as a resource to the nursing staff, as well as to other health care associates based on professional standards of care.
- Education/Public Relations:
- Educates patient and families regarding the plan of care. - Educates and promotes hospitalist program among hospital staff. - Participates in efforts to increase patient/provider satisfaction scores - Excellent communication (written and verbal), analytical and problem-solving skills - Ability to work as a team member to improve the health of the people and the community we serve - Provide the best outcome for every patient every time

- Nurse Practitioner
- Board Certified
- Experienced Inpatient Advance Practitioner
- Background in critical care nursing is preferred
- Recent experience in acute care
- Hold an unrestricted medical license in the state of Iowa
- Hold current and unrestricted state and federal authority to prescribe and administer medications as necessary or appropriate to the Advanced Practitioners field of practice
- Eligible to work in the United States
