PAYROLL MANAGER - TOWSON, MD - up to 90K

Are you a payroll expert with a passion for precision and compliance? Do you excel in managing multi-state payroll operations and navigating complex systems? Our client near the Towson, MD area is looking to hire a Payroll Manager to their team! You’ll work with a supportive team in a well-established company that values its employees and fosters professional growth.

This position is onsite and in office 5 days/week, but they offer a ton of flexibility with their employees.
Salary: $75,000 - $90,000

About the Role:

As the Payroll Manager, you’ll oversee the end-to-end payroll function for a workforce of 1000+ employees, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency. Reporting directly to the Controller with dotted line to CFO, you’ll handle payroll processing, tax filings, benefits administration, and more—all while playing a pivotal role in supporting the company’s financial operations and employee satisfaction. The Payroll Manager will also oversee and manage two direct reports on their team!

Payroll Manager Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee and manage the entire payroll process for all employees
  • Ensure compliance with Federal, State, and local wage and hour laws, and support related audits.
  • Address payroll-related inquiries and provide guidance on regulations to employees and management.
  • Implement and maintain payroll policies and procedures to streamline operations.
  • Prepare analytical reports and reconcile payroll tax accounts for accurate reporting.
  • Manage time and labor systems, assisting new hires with time-off tracking and requests.
  • Handle final pay, severance payouts, and agency notices, and oversee unemployment and local account registrations.
  • Contribute to audits, tax filings, and other payroll-related financial activities.

Payroll Manager Qualifications:

  • BS degree preferred, and open to relevant experience
  • 5+ years of multi-state payroll experience
  • 2+years supervisory experience
  • Proficiency with payroll systems such as ADP, WorkDay, Paychex, etc. preferred
  • Strong knowledge of Federal, State, and local payroll laws.
  • Excellent communication, analytical, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism in all interactions.
