Overview & Responsibilities
The Accounting Manager is responsible for managing accounting and tax engagements for small to mid-sized business clients, serving as a primary point of contact for ongoing accounting, consulting, and tax-related needs. This role works closely with business owners, internal staff accountants, and senior leadership to ensure accurate financial reporting, efficient processes, and high-quality client service. The Accounting Manager plays a key role in day-to-day client management and supports tax planning and preparation efforts while collaborating with senior advisory and fractional CFO resources as needed.

  • Manage and consult with small to mid-sized business clients on accounting processes and systems, monthly and quarterly financial reporting, general business and accounting best practices
  • Oversee and review accounting work prepared by staff accountants
  • Prepare and review business and individual tax returns
  • Support tax planning, projections, and year-end strategies for clients
  • Serve as a primary client contact, responding to questions and providing ongoing guidance
  • Review financial statements for accuracy and completeness
  • Coordinate with internal tax and advisory teams to ensure consistency and compliance
  • Assist with client onboarding and transition of accounting services
  • Identify process improvements for both clients and internal workflows
  • Maintain compliance with applicable accounting standards and tax regulations
  • Contribute to a collaborative team environment and support staff development

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or relevant field from an accredited university required
  • CPA license in good standing or CPA-track preferred
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in public accounting or client-facing accounting roles
  • Experience working with small to mid-sized businesses
  • Strong understanding of financial statements, accounting processes, and tax compliance
  • Experience with QuickBooks and similar accounting software required
