Company Description

The Taxpayers Protection Alliance (TPA) is a non-profit, non-partisan organization focused on educating the public about the government's effects on the economy. Through research, analysis, and the dissemination of information, TPA aims to promote transparency, fiscal responsibility, and accountability in government. The organization works on a variety of economic and tech policy issues to empower taxpayers and protect their interests.

TPA is seeking a Senior Tech Fellow to further the organization’s research, analysis, and advocacy on technology policy issues with direct implications for taxpayers. The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in tech policy, a strong commitment to fiscal responsibility and limited government, and the ability to translate complex technical issues into compelling policy arguments and public communications. This is a high-visibility role that will shape TPA’s voice on some of the most consequential technology debates of our time. This is not an entry-level position.

Key responsibilities:

  • Conduct original research on emerging technology issues including artificial intelligence, algorithmic systems, the infrastructure of the digital economy, and data governance, translating complex technical concepts for legislative and public audiences.
  • Produce high-quality reports, op-eds, blogs, policy briefs, and one-pagers that advance the organization’s mission and influence public discourse.
  • Monitor legislative, regulatory, and industry developments and assess their implications for TPA’s focus areas.
  • Represent the organization in congressional briefings, state legislative hearings, regulatory comment processes, and interagency meetings.
  • Develop policy recommendations and advocacy positions grounded in rigorous technical and legal analysis.
  • Represent TPA at policy briefings, coalition meetings, and relevant events as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in public policy, political science, economics, or a related field.
  • 4-8 years of experience in advocacy, research, or policy in the tech sector, ideally within a nonprofit, think tank, or government setting.
  • Strong interest in tech policy, artificial intelligence, and data privacy.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to synthesize complex policy issues clearly and concisely.
  • Strong research and analytical skills, including the ability to track and interpret legislation and regulatory developments.
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced policy environment.

This position is remote on Fridays, and in-person at our Washington D.C. office Monday-Thursday. TPA offers medical and dental insurance coverage, and a generous and flexible PTO policy.
