Accounting Manager

This is not your typical back-office accounting jobthis is an opportunity to partner directly with scientists, engineers, and executives who are solving real-world problems. You'll build systems, streamline processes, and be a core voice in strategic decisions as we scale groundbreaking research into real impact.

Financial Leadership

• Own the full financial close process & systems (government contracts receivable, AP, payroll, inventory), ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and clarity
• Provide hands-on support with accounting transactions, analysis, and documentation
• Optimize and maintain internal controls to safeguard the company's assets & government's property
• Produce financial statements that tell the story behind the numbers

Compliance

• Ensure compliance with GAAP, FAR, and relevant financial regulations
• Manage spending on federal government contracts within the approved rates
• Ensure QSEHRA reimbursements are compliant
• Partner with external auditors, tax advisors, and regulatory bodies as needed
• Build a competent accounting team, providing training and support to ensure continuous growth and adaptability

Operational Excellence & Strategy

• Provide insights that drive smarter, faster decisions regarding cost management & financial planning
• Support long-range planning, scenario modeling, and resource optimization
• Improve and automate accounting workflows

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. CMA or CPA strongly preferred
• 10+ years in accounting or auditing & management
• Experience in research, biotech, scientific services, grants, or government contracting is a plus
• Proficiency in QuickBooks and Excel
• Excellent communication, leadership, and strategic skills
• Strong command of GAAP, budgeting, and financial modeling
• Comfort with modern accounting systems and process automation
• Intuitive attention to detail
