Director Of Business Development
Spearhead strategic initiatives while leading a high-performing team at one of Washington's most influential law firms.
Wiley Rein, an internationally recognized law firm known for its complex regulatory counsel, is looking for a new Director of Business Development to join a highly visible and collaborative group based exclusively in Washington, D.C.
Working closely with a widely respected Chief Marketing Officer, the Director will serve as a trusted advisor to leadership, leading high-impact initiatives, combining strategic direction with hands-on execution to advance the firm's business development and client growth priorities.
The role in action:
- Partner with firm leadership to shape business development strategies, launch new client teams, and focus on meaningful, measurable results.
- Manage, mentor and support a strong Business Development team, fostering a culture of continuous learning, trust, and collaboration.
- Boost client growth by supporting retention efforts, spotting new opportunities, and guiding attorneys through the full pursuit process.
- Oversee key operations, including lateral attorney integration, the business development coaching program, RFP management, and cross-functional collaboration, while staying plugged into practice group priorities.
- Turn market and competitive insights into smart, targeted strategies that strengthen the firm's position and enable new growth opportunities.
We are seeking candidates who:
- Bring 12+ years of experience in marketing and business development, with a minimum of 8 years of experience in a law firm environment.
- Hold a bachelor's degree in marketing, business, communications, or a related field.
- Exhibit emotional intelligence, strategic thinking, crisp communication skills, and attention to detail, with a collaborative, solution-oriented mindset.
