Medical Laboratory Scientist

Job Title: Medical Laboratory Scientist- General Department.

Job Location: Bangor ME 04401.

Pay Rate: $59/hr. to $59.44/hr. on W2.

Duration: 3+ months with possible extension or conversation to Perm according to clients need

Shift: 10pm to 8am, Night shift (4X10)

Need someone competent and experienced with Roche Cobas 8100 Chemistry, IL GEM Blood Gases, Osmometer.

40 hours a week.

Job Responsibilities:

• Perform specimen handling, processing, analysis, and reporting according to laboratory SOPs
• Operate and maintain laboratory instruments; follow QC/QA policies, calibrations, and maintenance procedures
• Review and release test results, including STAT and critical values
• Identify and resolve testing issues or escalate to supervisor when needed; document corrective actions
• Ensure compliance with CLIA, HIPAA, OSHA, and laboratory safety guidelines
• Maintain accurate records of testing, QC, and proficiency testing
• Communicate effectively with lab staff and clients when required
• Participate in training, meetings, inspections, and continuous quality improvement
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the work area

Required Knowledge:

• Strong understanding of laboratory testing, QC/QA, and lab operations
• Proficiency in computer systems and ability to multitask

Education:

• BS in Medical Technology (preferred) or BS/BA in Chemistry/Biology or Associates degree in a Laboratory Science or Medical Technology.
• Eligible for certification (ASCP/AMT); credential evaluation required for foreign graduates

Experience:

• Minimum 1 year of clinical laboratory experience in high-complexity testing preferred

Additional Requirement:

• Experience with Roche Cobas 8100 (Chemistry), IL GEM (Blood Gas Analyzer), and Osmometer preferred
