Job Title: HIM Coordinator
Client: Health Insurance
Location: Michigan, onsite in local Grand Rapids, MI provider offices
Duration: 7-month contract
Start Date: 4/27
Compensation: $22-26/hour
As a Health Information Management (HIM) Coordinator, you will play a key role in ensuring the accuracy, completeness, and compliance of electronic health records (EHR). Under general direction, you will manage a variety of HIM functions, act as a liaison for physician offices, and support team members with training and leadership as needed.
Key Responsibilities:
- Analyze electronic health records for completeness, accuracy, and compliance with internal policies and external regulatory standards.
- Access, input, and retrieve information from various health information and clinical systems.
- Identify and track documentation deficiencies using chart completion software and assign deficiencies to the appropriate provider.
- Serve as a resource and consultant for physicians, physician assistants, residents, and interns on EHR navigation and documentation requirements.
- Verify that all patient identification data is accurate, consulting the Enterprise Master Patient Index (EMPI) when necessary.
- Monitor and ensure completion of physician dictation and transcription.
- Perform quality control audits on transcribed medical reports to ensure accuracy and completeness.
- Convert paper medical records to electronic format while maintaining data quality and turnaround time standards.
- Uphold strict confidentiality standards in accordance with HIPAA, Spectrum Health policies, and state and federal regulations.
Qualifications:
- Education: High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Experience: Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in health information management.
- Local to Michigan area and willing to travel to local provider offices to retrieve in person

- Proactive in identifiying workflow improvmeents and ensuring department goals are consistently achieved
- Knowledge of Risk Adjustment, HEDIS and Quality b Knowledge of EMR/EHR systems such as (EPIC, CERNER, Allscripts, Atena, NextGen, eClinicalWorks, etc.)
- Experience assiting with a RADV audit season
