Executive Director Global Medical Affairs, Hematology

This senior leadership role sits at the intersection of medical strategy, clinical science, and global execution within the hematology therapeutic area. You will be responsible for shaping and driving the global medical affairs strategy for late-stage and marketed hematology assets, ensuring strong scientific rigor and impactful evidence generation. The role plays a key part in translating clinical insights into strategies that support patients, physicians, and healthcare systems worldwide. You will collaborate closely with clinical development, commercial, and regional teams to support launch excellence and lifecycle management. Operating in a highly matrixed global environment, you will engage with external experts, advisory boards, and scientific communities. This is a high-impact position for a seasoned medical affairs leader passionate about advancing innovation in oncology and hematology.

Accountabilities:

• Lead the development and execution of the global medical strategy for assigned hematology assets, including CLL, MCL, MZL, and WM, ensuring alignment with clinical, scientific, and commercial objectives.
• Define and implement integrated global medical plans, including evidence generation strategies, advisory boards, publication plans, congress activities, and medical education initiatives.
• Oversee post-marketing (Phase IV) studies and investigator-initiated research programs, ensuring scientific rigor and alignment with strategic evidence gaps.
• Contribute to global product team strategy and support launch planning and lifecycle management in collaboration with clinical development and commercial functions.
• Engage with external scientific experts, patient organizations, and advisory boards to generate insights and support evidence-based decision-making.
• Collaborate with regional and country medical teams to ensure alignment and execution of global medical strategies across markets.
• Act as a key medical subject matter expert for cross-functional teams, supporting market access, brand strategy, and clinical development initiatives.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory, legal, and internal standards across all medical affairs activities.
• Represent the organization in peer-to-peer scientific exchanges and external collaborations within the hematology community.

• Advanced scientific degree required (MD strongly preferred; PhD, PharmD, or NP/PA considered depending on experience).
• 8+ years of pharmaceutical industry experience in medical affairs, with strong global exposure required.
• Clinical background in hematology or oncology, with deep expertise in diseases such as CLL; hands-on clinical experience strongly preferred.
• Proven track record in developing and executing global medical strategies, including launch preparation and lifecycle management.
• Experience leading clinical or post-marketing studies, including investigator-initiated research programs.
• Strong understanding of the drug development process and evidence generation frameworks.
• Demonstrated success in advisory board leadership, scientific communications, and publication development.
• Strong cross-functional collaboration skills in complex, matrixed, and multicultural environments.
• Solid business acumen with understanding of payer requirements, market access, and commercial strategy alignment.
• Excellent communication, presentation, and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Strong organizational, prioritization, and budget management capabilities.
• Willingness to travel up to 25%.
