Job Summary and Qualifications

The residency program is reviewed and accredited by the American Society for Health-Systems Pharmacists. The program has specific requirements for participation by the hospital and the residents. HCA residents will meet all ASHP qualifications.

  • The resident will be a graduate pharmacist either licensed or eligible for licensure shortly after hiring.
  • The resident will staff an average of 8 hours per week after licensure.
  • The resident will be expected to complete medication use evaluations, P&T monographs and newsletter articles at the request of the DOP or resident director.
  • The resident will assist in precepting undergraduate pharmacy students.
  • The resident will present a project at the Florida Residency Conference.
  • The resident will work in the Medication Management Clinic along with HCA staff pharmacists.
  • The resident will be BLS and ACLS certified and may also be certified in other post-graduate areas such as diabetes education, immunization, and anticoagulation monitoring.
  • The resident will attend professional meetings during his/her residency.
  • The resident will be encouraged to sit for the Board of Pharmaceutical Specialties Board Certification (BCBPS).
What qualifications you will need:
  • Education: Pharm D ; BCPS, MBA or MHA a plus
  • Experience: Undergraduate clinical rotations a prerequisite; work experience in community or hospital pharmacy a plus
  • Licensure, Certification, and/or Registration: Florida registered pharmacist (must obtain within 90-days of hiring), consultant pharmacist registration optional; ACLS & BCLS required
