HCA Healthcare is seeking a dedicated RN Weekends Adult Psych to join our Behavioral Health team within our Healthcare & Medical Services department. In this role, you will provide compassionate, evidence-based inpatient psychiatric care to adult patients during weekend shifts, supporting our mission to deliver safe, high-quality, patient-centered care. Working in a structured adult psychiatric unit, you will conduct comprehensive assessments, administer medications, monitor responses to treatment, and collaborate closely with psychiatrists, therapists, social workers, and other members of the interdisciplinary team to develop and implement individualized plans of care.
As a weekend RN in Adult Psych, you will perform ongoing mental status and risk assessments, including evaluating for suicide risk, self-harm, aggression, withdrawal, and other behavioral health concerns. You will utilize therapeutic communication, crisis intervention, and de-escalation techniques to support patients through acute episodes while maintaining a safe, structured environment. Responsibilities include accurate and timely documentation in the electronic health record, coordination of care and patient flow, patient and family education on diagnoses, medications, and discharge plans, and adherence to unit safety protocols, infection control standards, and regulatory requirements.
You will play a key role in leading and participating in treatment team meetings and shift huddles, communicating patient progress, safety concerns, and changes in condition. You will collaborate closely with the healthcare team to support discharge planning, community resource referrals, and continuity of care. The position requires strong clinical judgment, prioritization, and time management skills, as well as the ability to remain calm and effective in high-stress, emotionally charged situations. Weekend coverage may include a combination of day, evening, and/or night shifts based on unit needs.
