Qualifications:

• Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) with proven interpreting skills
• Experience working in K-12 educational settings, preferably with elementary students
• Flexibility to adapt interpreting styles based on classroom needs and student preferences
• Ability to collaborate with teachers, administrators, and educational teams
• Strong understanding of both educational terminology and Deaf culture
• Relevant certification as a Sign Language Interpreter (SLI) is highly desirable
• Professional, patient, and compassionate demeanor
• Previous experience as a Teacher of American Sign Language is a plus

Responsibilities:

• Serve as a dedicated 1:1 interpreter for a 4th-grade student, facilitating full access to instructional activities and classroom participation
• Accurately interpret lessons, discussions, and peer interactions
• Partner closely with the classroom teacher to support the student's learning goals
• Adjust interpreting methods to best suit the student's comprehension and communication needs
• Maintain strict confidentiality in accordance with educational and ethical guidelines
