Description

  • Ability to work independently and as a team member
Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:
  • Assisting attorneys and other staff
  • Reviewing records and documents (searching documents for key words, terms, phrases; redacting documents electronically)
  • Legal research and writing
  • Interviewing clients
  • Performing other duties as assigned
*These positions are not under the merit system and generally includes the staffs of the governor and lieutenant governor, policy-making managers, and agency leaders. (See KRS 18A.115.) These positions have no formal selection criteria and are not appointed from a register. Employees in these positions may be terminated 'without notice of cause' without recourse. Vacancies may or may not be posted on the careers website.

EDUCATION: Graduate of a college or university with a bachelor's degree in paralegal science or a bachelor's degree with a minor in paralegal studies OR two-year program in paralegal studies OR post-baccalaureate certificate in paralegal studies OR a Juris Doctorate or a law degree from a college of law.

Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE: NONE

Substitute EXPERIENCE for EDUCATION: Experience as a paralegal or legal secretary will substitute for the bachelor's degree on a year-for-year basis.
