Quality & Continuous Improvement Specialist
Location: Rock Hill, SC
Join a team that's raising the bar - and the ceiling.
Who We Are
Summit Stairs & Millwork delivers high quality stair systems and millwork products through craftsmanship, innovation, and operational excellence. We partner with builders and contractors to ensure precision, safety, and a finished product that enhances every home. Summit combines field expertise with strong customer relationships to serve residential markets with reliability and consistency.
Where You Come In
As our Quality & Continuous Improvement Specialist, you will lead efforts to strengthen product quality, reduce defects, and improve manufacturing processes across our Rock Hill facility. This role is focused on building systems - not just inspecting outcomes.
You'll partner closely with production leadership to identify root causes, implement corrective actions, and drive measurable, sustainable improvements. While you'll support safety compliance efforts, your primary focus will be elevating quality performance through structured problem-solving and continuous improvement methodologies.
This is a hands-on, floor-driven role for someone who thrives on data, process optimization, and building better systems.
What You'll Do
Quality Leadership & Process Improvement
• Lead in-process and final product quality inspections to ensure compliance with Summit's specifications and customer requirements.
• Analyze quality data, defect trends, and rework reports to identify root causes and implement corrective and preventative actions.
• Develop, standardize, and maintain quality control procedures, work instructions, and inspection checkpoints.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives using Lean, Six Sigma, or similar methodologies to reduce waste, variation, and inefficiencies.
• Facilitate root cause analysis sessions (5 Whys, Fishbone, Pareto analysis, etc.) with cross-functional teams.
• Partner with production supervisors to implement process improvements that increase consistency, throughput, and first-pass yield.
• Monitor KPIs related to scrap, rework, customer returns, and production accuracy - and report findings to leadership.
• Support internal audits and ensure adherence to established quality standards.
Safety Support & Compliance
• Assist in maintaining compliance with OSHA and company safety policies.
• Conduct periodic safety walkthroughs and partner with leadership to address identified risks.
• Support safety documentation, incident tracking, and corrective action implementation.
What You'll Bring
• High school diploma or GED required; technical training or associate degree preferred.
• 3+ years of experience in manufacturing quality, process improvement, or production environments.
• Experience with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, Kaizen, or other continuous improvement methodologies strongly preferred.
• Lean or Six Sigma certification (Yellow Belt, Green Belt, or higher) is a plus.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and identify trends.
• Experience conducting root cause analysis and implementing corrective actions.
• Working knowledge of OSHA standards and general workplace safety compliance.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and basic reporting tools.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to influence and collaborate across departments.
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift up to 50 lbs throughout the shift in a production environment.
Pay & Schedule
Full-time position based in Rock Hill, SC.
Monday-Friday schedule with occasional flexibility based on production needs.
