Bus Monitor
5 Hours/day; Student days, plus additional days, as required
Transportation Department
Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Effective communication skills, both verbal and written
• Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work as a member of a team
• Demonstrates integrity, honesty, patience, humor, compassion, courtesy, responsibility
• Experience in a job/volunteer activity that involved working with special needs children in an educational setting.
• Physically able to secure wheelchair students for a safe ride

Performance Responsibilities:

• Assist with loading and unloading of special needs students and monitor those students while being transported to and from school
• Understands and monitors behavioral needs and anticipates situation when support may be needed
• Participates in training to develop the skills to work with special education students
• Assist driver with emergency management situations
• Communicate effectively with students, driver, and building supervisors regarding students' safe ride to school
• Assisting students from their seat to a wheelchair
• Lifting might exceed 40 pounds

Hourly Rate: Per the Collective Bargaining Agreement
