The Ohio Attorney General's Office, Constitutional Offices Section, is currently seeking an experienced, licensed attorney with a passion for litigation, research and writing, and public service to join its team. The Constitutional Offices Section represents Ohio's statewide officeholders, including the Governor, Secretary of State, Auditor, Treasurer of State, and those elected to the Ohio Supreme Court, and to the General Assembly. Attorneys in the Constitutional Offices Section have the unique opportunity to represent Ohio's officeholders and offices in federal and state courts, litigating cases that present complex and novel federal and state constitutional issues.
This position will enjoy a dedicated focus on all public records and open meetings laws. The successful candidate will have a key role in handling all phases of the public records process and will provide a high level of advice and guidance to all employees, managers and executive staff on public records issues. The successful candidate will stay up-to-date on legal developments in public records and open meetings laws and will manage the annual publication of the Ohio Attorney General's Sunshine Laws Manual. Additionally, this position will be responsible for providing in-person and virtual statewide training to elected officials and the public on compliance with public records and open meeting laws. Finally, this position will appear before public tribunals in public records litigation and other legal matters as assigned.
The cases that Constitutional Offices handles are high- profile and have impact statewide. Its practice frequently includes responding to expedited elections cases, requests for preliminary injunctions and temporary restraining orders, trials and oral arguments. This position presents the opportunity to analyze and develop unique legal theories and to present them before all levels of Ohio's courts in a collaborative, team-oriented environment. This position will work a hybrid in-person/remote schedule. There may be changes to this schedule based on training and operational needs. The headquarter location is 30 E. Broad St. Columbus, Ohio

Qualifications
-Licensed to practice law in the State of Ohio pursuant to Section 4705.01 of the Ohio Revised Code
-The preferred candidate will possess at least (2) years of litigation experience including brief writing, hearings, trials and motion practice. Candidates who possess judicial clerkship experience and/or possess an aptitude and desire to practice constitutional litigation in the public sector are also encouraged to apply.
