OVERVIEW:
The FSQ Lab Technician performs critical quality and microbiological testing, in-process checks, environmental monitoring, packaging verification, and documentation reviews to ensure products meet Suntado's food safety, quality, and legality standards. The role carries out laboratory testing, hourly process audits, CIP verification, data entry, record accuracy, and GMP compliance activities under BRC/GFSI/PCQI guidelines.This position shares responsibility for maintaining Suntado's food safety, quality and legality program under the BRC/GFSI/PCQI guidelines.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Laboratory Testing & In-Process Checks
- Perform microbiological, chemical, physical, and packaging integrity tests according to approved SOPs.
- Conduct line checks, including packaging materials, weights, codes, and visual inspections.
- Complete First Time Right, weight control, Tetra Top/Evergreen line checks, and other routine quality tests.
- Document all results accurately in designated systems.
- Perform scheduled environmental swabs (pathogen and indicator organisms).
- Collect, incubate, and document results for samples including Salmonella, Listeria, coliform, yeast, mold, and water samples.
- Escalate any positive or out-of-compliance results per procedure.
- CIP, Equipment & Pre-Start Verification
- Inspect equipment after CIP and prior to startup to ensure cleanliness and readiness.
- Verify accurate lot/date codes on all packaging materials.
- Audit production areas for cleanliness and GMP compliance.
- Perform required calibration checks (pipettes monthly, scales monthly, thermometers quarterly, colony counter monthly).
- Document out-of-tolerance findings and initiate corrective actions.
- Maintain MSDS Micro Book, organize lab areas, manage biohazard waste, and record all incubation/refrigeration temperatures.
- Verify production and quality documentation for completeness and accuracy.
- Assist with creation and revision of SOPs.
- Participate in annual training, certifications, and competency checks.
- Help maintain audit-ready status in all lab and QA areas.
- Assist in training new employees in testing methods, documentation standards, and GMP expectations.
- Identify and communicate non-conformances promptly.
- Work collaboratively with production and packaging teams to support continuous improvement.
- Maintain required PPE and adhere to safety and sanitation policies.
- Assist with inventory and ordering of lab supplies.
- Other duties as assigned.
- High school diploma required; A.A./science degree preferred.
- Experience in food/beverage quality or laboratory setting preferred.
- Proficiency in documentation, Microsoft Office, and DCS systems a plus.
