Direct Counsel is seeking a Litigation Special Counsel to join the construction litigation practice of a leading national law firm. This is a full-time, non-partner track role designed for attorneys who enjoy managing a high volume of matters and working with significant autonomy. The position supports a sophisticated construction practice with a focus on dispute resolution, including arbitration, mediation, and litigation.

Direct Counsel is seeking a Litigation Special Counsel to join the construction litigation practice of a leading national law firm. This is a full-time, non-partner track role designed for attorneys who enjoy managing a high volume of matters and working with significant autonomy. The position supports a sophisticated construction practice with a focus on dispute resolution, including arbitration, mediation, and litigation.
Responsibilities
- Manage a high volume of litigation matters involving construction and related disputes.
- Conduct legal research and draft motions, pleadings, and legal memoranda.
- Handle discovery, depositions, and motion practice in complex matters.
- Participate in and support arbitrations, mediations, and court proceedings.
- Assist with the resolution and settlement of disputes, including insurance and design defect claims.
- Coordinate with and oversee paralegals and support staff in managing case workflows.
- Maintain consistent communication with partners, clients, and internal teams to ensure efficient case management.
- 3-7 years of litigation experience, preferably in construction, insurance, or related commercial disputes.
- Experience with discovery, motion drafting, depositions, and court appearances.
- Prior exposure to mediation, arbitration, and settlement negotiations strongly preferred.
- Strong legal research, writing, and analytical skills.
- Ability to manage a high-volume caseload independently.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Experience supervising paralegals or litigation support staff is beneficial.
- JD from an ABA-accredited law school.
- Active membership in the Florida Bar.
