Technical Skills & Qualifications:
- Education: Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
- Licensure: Active North Carolina law license in good standing.
- Bar Exams: Recent North Carolina UBE passage is strongly preferred to facilitate license transfers to other states.
- Legal Knowledge: Foundational understanding of federal debt collection laws (FDCPA) and North Carolina state civil litigation procedures.
- Software Proficiency: Competency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Outlook, Excel) for document drafting and case management.
- Experience: 0-3 years of experience in bankruptcy, collections, civil litigation, or related legal fields.
- Caseload Management: Oversee a high-volume caseload, managing files from initial filing through post-judgment execution.
- Litigation & Advocacy: Perform legal research, draft pleadings, and provide oral advocacy during court hearings.
- Travel: Travel to various courts throughout North Carolina to represent clients and attend proceedings as required.
- Negotiation: Interface with opposing counsel to negotiate and settle cases efficiently.
- Strategic Advisory: Analyze case law to provide well-reasoned recommendations and guidance on regulatory risks.
- Collaborative Reporting: Partner with the Managing Attorney to report on case progression, results, and overall activity.
- Multi-Jurisdictional Growth: Pursue additional bar admissions in surrounding states (SC, TN, FL, VA, MD, MI, OH) to support the firm's regional footprint.
- Communication: Maintain excellent written and verbal communication skills for professional correspondence and courtroom presentation.
- Customer Focus: Provide respectful, solutions-focused interactions with customers to create sustainable payment resolutions.
- Time Management: Utilize strong organizational skills to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a high-pressure environment.
- Ownership: Demonstrate a proactive approach to managing responsibilities and delivering high-quality legal work.
