Position Overview

The Lee Group is seeking a Quality Assurance Technician to support food safety and quality initiatives within a production environment. This role is responsible for ensuring that raw materials and finished products meet customer specifications, company standards, and regulatory requirements. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, proactive, and comfortable working in a fast-paced manufacturing setting.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support QA and Operations teams throughout the full production process
  • Collaborate with Production to identify, prevent, and resolve quality issues on the floor
  • Conduct pre-operational and operational inspections in accordance with GMP standards
  • Perform monitoring and verification activities aligned with HACCP plans (including metal detector checks)
  • Complete routine quality checks such as:
    • Label and lot code verification
    • Net weight checks
    • Organoleptic (sensory) evaluations
  • Verify equipment calibration (scales, thermometers) and document daily temperature readings
  • Ensure compliance with specifications for incoming materials and finished products
  • Execute hold and release procedures for nonconforming products
  • Perform corrective actions related to food safety, sanitation, and quality deviations
  • Conduct environmental swabbing, ATP testing, and allergen testing
  • Assist with nutritional label reviews to ensure FDA compliance
  • Stop production when quality standards are not met and escalate issues appropriately
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and compliant work environment
  • Follow and enforce all Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and food safety protocols
Additional Duties
  • Perform SSOP inspections and internal audits (GMP, HACCP, Food Defense, Glass & Brittle Plastics)
  • Conduct microbiological testing activities, including swab processing
  • Audit production lines to ensure adherence to quality standards
  • Verify proper labeling and packaging of finished goods
Qualifications

Education:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Associate degree or relevant experience (1+ year) preferred
Experience & Skills:
  • 1+ year of leadership or QA-related experience preferred
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel)
  • Ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively across all levels of the organization
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to lift 5-20 lbs occasionally
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, twist, and climb stairs for extended periods
  • Willingness to work overtime as needed
