Construction Litigation Attorney
SUMMARY :
Our client seeks to hire an attorney to join its Litigation Practice Team in one of its southeast Michigan offices (Ann Arbor, Birmingham, or Novi).
RESPONSIBILTIES :
- Drafting and negotiating construction contracts, including:
- Standard form agreements (AIA, ConsensusDocs, etc.)
- Custom construction contracts
- Payment terms, limitations of liability, warranties, termination provisions, and ADR
- Handling a broad range of construction-related claims, including:
- Delay and inefficiency claims
- Defects and warranty disputes
- Design-related claims
- Mechanics' liens and bonds
- Serving in lead roles in trials, arbitrations, administrative proceedings
- Leading litigation matters, including motion practice, taking and defending depositions (including expert witnesses)
- Legal research and writing
QUALIFICATION :
- 8-15 years of significant construction law experience
- Admission to the Michigan Bar (required)
- Demonstrated business development experience
- Meaningful portable book of business preferred, with growth potential
- Ability to manage files, supervise client relationships, and lead commercial cases
- Ability to manage multiple matters and deadlines while maintaining responsiveness
