Columbia Mental Health, a leader in comprehensive psychiatric care in Washington, DC, is seeking a Licensed Mental Health Therapist to join our Healthcare & Medical Services team. In this role, you will provide evidence-based, individualized psychotherapy and mental health services to a diverse adult and/or adolescent population, addressing a wide range of conditions such as depression, anxiety, trauma-related disorders, mood disorders, and co-occurring challenges. Working within an inclusive, supportive, and empathetic culture, you will collaborate closely with psychiatrists, psychiatric nurse practitioners, case managers, and other mental health professionals to develop and implement holistic, patient-centered treatment plans that promote meaningful improvement in functioning and quality of life. As a Licensed Mental Health Therapist at Columbia Mental Health, you will conduct comprehensive biopsychosocial assessments, diagnostic evaluations, and ongoing risk and safety assessments, forming clinically sound formulations and DSM-5 diagnoses. You will provide individual, group, and/or family therapy using advanced therapeutic approaches, such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), trauma-informed interventions, and other evidence-based modalities aligned with best practices. You will maintain a manageable caseload, ensuring high-quality, timely clinical documentation within our electronic health record system and adherence to all ethical, legal, and regulatory standards. You will work in a collaborative, learning-focused environment that prioritizes innovation and continuous professional development. Columbia Mental Health encourages participation in case consultations, interdisciplinary team meetings, quality improvement initiatives, and internal trainings to refine and expand your clinical skills. You will have regular opportunities to engage with leading mental health professionals in Washington, DC, receive feedback on complex cases, and contribute your expertise to enhance clinical protocols and patient outcomes. The ideal candidate brings strong clinical judgment, excellent communication skills, and a deep commitment to culturally responsive, trauma-informed, and recovery-oriented care. You should be comfortable working with individuals from diverse socioeconomic, racial, ethnic, gender, and LGBTQ+ backgrounds, and adept at building therapeutic alliances in a fast-paced outpatient setting. You will support patients in setting realistic goals, monitoring progress, and coordinating care with internal and external providers, community resources, and family or support systems when appropriate.
