We are currently looking to add a Consulting Utility Forester - GIS Technician to our team! - Analyze and interpret spatial data to support utility vegetation management (UVM) programs and infrastructure planning
- Create, maintain, and update GIS databases, maps, and dashboards
- Perform spatial analysis to identify trends, risks, and opportunities
- Respond to data inquiries & support field crews and arborists with reports, maps, spreadsheets, etc.
- Manage specialized databases and spreadsheets, entering data and generating reports with proficiency in Microsoft Excel
- Collaborate with field teams to integrate GPS-collected data into GIS systems
- Generate reports and visualizations to support decision-making and regulatory compliance
- Ensure data accuracy and consistency across platforms and projects
- Support QA/QC processes for spatial data and field-collected information
- Assist in developing and maintaining automated workflows using GIS tools and scripting
- Travel may be required for field data collection or coordination with field teams
- 1-3 years of experience working with GIS software and databases, including ESRI Suite
- Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree in Geography, GIS, Environmental Science, or a related field
- Proficiency in GIS software (e.g., ArcGIS, QGIS)
- Experience with spatial data formats and coordinate systems
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks, and show attention to detail
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Basic programming/scripting knowledge (e.g., Python, SQL) is a plus
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel if needed
- Experience in utility or environmental GIS applications
- Familiarity with GPS data collection tools and mobile GIS apps
- Certification such as GISP or Esri Technical Certification
- Bi-Lingual (English/Spanish) a plus
