Position Summary We are seeking a strategic and hands-on Finance Lead to oversee all financial operations of the company. This role is critical in managing cash flow, optimizing margins, ensuring compliance, and supporting leadership with data-driven insights. The ideal candidate has experience in staffing, understands payroll funding cycles, and thrives in a fast-paced, every changing, high- growth environment. Key Responsibilities Financial Strategy & Leadership Partner with executive leadership to drive financial planning, forecasting, and business strategy Develop and monitor KPIs (gross margin, fill rates, bill/pay spreads, DSO, etc.) Provide actionable insights to improve profitability and operational efficiency Can lead and mentor a team of 1 – 3 Finance team members Accounting & Reporting Oversee month-end and year-end close processes Oversee Finance Team and monitor successful completion of task and deadlines. Prepare and present financial statements (P&L, balance sheet, cash flow) Ensure GAAP compliance and audit readiness Cash Flow & Payroll Management Manage cash flow forecasting, particularly related to weekly/biweekly staffing payroll cycles Oversee payroll funding, including relationships with funding partners or lines of credit Oversee team’s task to clear invoices in our bank portal Monitor accounts receivable and reduce DSO Budgeting & Forecasting Lead annual budgeting process and rolling forecasts Track actuals vs. budget and provide variance analysis Compliance & Risk Management Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations (including payroll taxes, workers’ comp, and staffing-specific requirements) Manage insurance programs (workers’ comp, general liability, etc.) Maintain internal controls and financial policies Will audit and spot check the work of the Finance Group Systems & Process Improvement Optimize financial systems (e.g., QuickBooks, internal Operating System ) Improve reporting automation and data accuracy Streamline billing, invoicing, and collections processes Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field 3–5 + years of finance/accounting experience, preferably in staffing, recruiting, or a similar high-volume payroll environment Strong understanding of staffing metrics (bill rate, pay rate, markup, margin) Experience with payroll funding or high cash-flow turnover businesses Advanced Excel skills; experience with financial systems and ATS/CRM platforms Strong analytical, communication, and leadership skills Preferred Experience Experience scaling a staffing firm with an increase in billable hours and bill rate.
